There comes a moment for every cyclist when the bike stops being just training, speed, or performance. It becomes freedom. It becomes discovery. It becomes a way to feel at home. It’s when you use your bike to travel.

For Vincenzo, our Daccordi mechanic, that moment arrived this past summer. After last year’s tour in Puglia, he decided to go further: from Tuscany to Sicily, his homeland, covering 1,185 kilometers along the Tyrrhenian coast. Ten days in the saddle, shared with his life and riding partner, Fulvia.

“Reaching Avola will be a unique experience,” he had written on the eve of departure.
And it truly was.

The Dream That Starts at Dawn

The first alarm rings at four in the morning, Sunday, August 10th. From the Tuscan coast of Cecina, the first stage begins: 205 kilometers to Civitavecchia. The sea always on their left, wind in their faces, and the road starts to tell a story of asphalt, silence, and smiles. Every day, Vincenzo and Fulvia pedal at dawn and arrive at sunset, crossing Lazio, Campania, and Calabria.

Each stage becomes a memory: Nettuno, Torre del Greco, Agropoli, Falerna Marina. Every evening a new coast, a refreshing swim, a hearty dinner, and the growing awareness that the dream is getting closer.

1,185 Kilometers, 8,000 Meters of Elevation, and a Promise

Vincenzo’s journey is not a race against the clock, but a tribute to slowness and determination. He, who every day works on Daccordi frames, checking tolerances, cables, bottom brackets, and the smallest details, is now testing himself.

“Those who truly love this sport know that some emotions cannot be explained.
You pedal them.”

Stage after stage, the body adapts, the mind clears. The wheels spin lightly, and the line between fatigue and happiness becomes thin. After all, every cyclist knows that effort is not an obstacle: it is the condition that makes you feel alive. As Jovanotti says: we were born to move.

Vincenzo’s Faithful Daccordi Idioma

Even though it wasn’t a race, Vincenzo chose to undertake the journey on a Daccordi Idioma, a bike that is both comfortable and high-performing. Because even when performance isn’t the goal, smoothness, balance, and practicality remain essential. Effort is part of cycling—indeed, it is cycling—but there’s no point in making it harder with an inefficient bike. Vincenzo prepared for this adventure with his Idioma, equipped with three bikepacking bags, stripped down to the essentials: everything needed for ten days of freedom in the saddle.

The Ferry of Dreams

After seven stages, the most awaited moment arrives: the ferry to Sicily. A short crossing, but full of symbolism. The island appears on the horizon, and the excitement grows. “Sicily, you are mine,” Vincenzo writes.

Then comes the arrival in Taormina, and finally the last stretch to Avola: the finish line of a journey that is much more than a cycling adventure. It’s a return to roots. It’s proof that when a bike becomes part of you, it can take you anywhere you want. Even beyond something that is just a road.

The Stages of the Journey

A trip like this isn’t measured only in kilometers, but in emotions and landscapes.
From Bibbona to Civitavecchia, along the Tuscan coast and through the countryside of Lazio to Nettuno, all the way to the vibrant energy of Naples — every stage carried a different flavor.
Then the scent of the sea along the Amalfi Coast, the bright light of Agropoli, the heat of Calabria, and finally the island’s silhouette on the horizon.
After more than a thousand kilometers, the arrival in Avola wasn’t just a geographic destination — it was the culmination of a dream nurtured with every pedal stroke.

Riding with the Heart

When Vincenzo talks about his journey, he doesn’t mention watts or average speeds. He talks about the sea, the scents, the landscapes, the companionship with Fulvia, and a simple happiness that comes from pedaling together.
“A unique experience I gave myself for my 60th birthday,” he says. And then, with his usual humor: “Everything else is boring.”

Ten days on the bike.
1,185 kilometers.
8,000 meters of elevation.
Two people, one dream, and one certainty: the bike is the most human way to explore the world.

From now on, Vincenzo isn’t just the mechanic who builds your Daccordi.
He is also proof that those who make them truly live them.
