A few days ago, on our social channels, we shared content featuring a rather particular Stradiva bicycle. It is Fabrizio’s bike, a bike he didn’t simply choose but personally designed. He arrived with a very clear idea of what he wanted: the design, the RAL colors, the placement of the lettering, the overall balance of the project. Not a total delegation, but a precise vision to be turned into something real.
That bike sparked strong reactions. Some people appreciated it greatly, while others criticized it harshly. And it’s important to say this clearly: we have never believed that our work should please everyone. That applies to bicycles, to people, to life in general. Neutrality is not a goal, and so yes, that’s fine.
That episode, however, prompted a reflection. Because a bike that divides opinions is, first and foremost, a bike with character. And today, in a world dominated by mass production, it is far from obvious to create something with a recognizable personality. Industrial production naturally tends to smooth out edges, to make everything more acceptable, more neutral, more easily digestible. It is an understandable logic, because it has to work on large numbers, but the price often paid is the loss of identity.
This is why we believe that today many people turn to artisans for a very simple reason: they have learned to stop caring about other people’s judgment. Not because they want to be provocative or different at all costs, but because they are aware of who they are, of what makes them feel good, of what they truly like, even when it is not universally approved. In this sense, a custom bicycle is not a whim, but a statement.
It doesn’t need to please everyone. It needs to be coherent with the person who rides it. And this is where, for us, the work of the artisan becomes something more than simply building an object. It becomes a form of complicity. Being accomplices in the affirmation of someone’s personality is a responsibility, but also a privilege.
When someone entrusts us with such a personal project, they are not just asking for a bicycle. They are asking us not to dilute their vision, to respect it, and to make it tangible. In the end, this is what truly makes us proud: not unanimous approval, but the fact that, every now and then, a bicycle sparks discussion because it has the courage to be itself. And, by extension, because someone had the courage to choose without asking for permission.
